Born in Switzerland, Eugen Siegfried Rauber, who studied music in Zurich and theology in Munich, worked as a pastor for several years before devoting himself entirely to music. From 1926, after positions in Seckau, Styria and Litomerice, Bohemia, he worked in Bregenz, Austria, as a monastery organist and choir director. Lauda Jerusalem is a striking, musically diverse and powerful praise to God, that also includes tender tones and ends with a joyful, jubilant Alleluia.
