This solemn composition consists of two motifs (Kyrie eleison and Christe eleison). The Kyrie eleison, first presented by the upper voices (soprano, alto), is ultimately augmented by the calmly flowing male voice. In the Christe eleison, on the other hand, only the male voice is heard at the beginning, before it alternates with the female voices. The finale is an interweaving of familiar and previously heard motifs. The easily playable piano accompaniment supports the choir parts and calmly propels the composition forward.
