1876 – 1941

Eugen Siegfried Rauber

Born the son of a military chapel master in Baden, Canton of Aargau, Switzerland, Eugen Siegfried Rauber initially studied organ, piano and music theory at the Zurich Conservatory. After studying Catholic theology in Munich and Freiburg and graduating from the seminary, he worked as a pastor for several years before devoting himself entirely to music. This was followed by positions in Seckau, Styria (monastery organist) and Litomerice, Bohemia (cathedral chapel master). From 1926 he worked in Bregenz, once again as a monastery organist and choir director. Rauber composed numerous sacred choral pieces as well as songs, musical comedies and operettas.
