With the celebrated Pastorale from his Christmas Concerto op. 6/8, Arcangelo Corelli triggered a veritable boom in similar instrumental works in the Italy of the baroque era. Francesco Manfredini's counterpart, which has been held in constant very high regard to the present day, combines to perfection a festive mood with the melodic style of a pastorale. Michael Aschauer has taken extracts from Manfredini's composition to create a very sensitively arranged and easily singable choral piece. For this, he has drawn on a German Christmas text by the baroque poet Andreas Gryphius which captures perfectly the mood of the music. A piece guaranteed to enrich every concert at Christmastide. With English and German lyrics (Weihnachts-Largo).
