The impressive choral piece CGV – Chorale à grande vitesse was commissioned by the chamber choir of the Collegium musicum Berlin. The title is based on the designation for the French high-speed train TGV (train à grande vitesse). The excerpts of French poems set to music, on the other hand, are about ships and sea voyages with the composition representing a metaphor for the journey and the quest itself. But it is not just a matter of departure and adventure when the question is posed whether we can stop the passage of time, whether we can interrupt our journey at all. This is a showstopper for ambitious choirs that will lift you out of your seat.
