This Christmas song – a lyrical, ballad-like lullaby for Baby Jesus in the manger – moves the performers and audience alike. It not only enhances Advent and Christmas concerts, but can also be performed as a secular lullaby. The composition can be sung in the original English lyrics as well as with the German lyrics (Schlaf, kleines Kindlein). This choral piece was composed for BeispielsWeisen 2 – New Choral Music from Upper Austria and premiered with great success during this event on 20 April 2013 by the Collegium vocale Linz under the direction of Josef Habringer, the Director of Music at the Linz cathedral (Audio sample).
