This setting of Psalm 40:5 begins solemnly carried in the bass which, with the striding and repeated words “O Eterno, Iddio mio” (Oh Lord, my God), lays the foundation for the other voices that successively unfold above it. Just how numerous and incomprehensible the wonders of the Lord are is illustrated in the swift flowing piano accompaniment. This is a splendid composition for use in church services and concerts.
