With twilight shadow and mist, the South Tyrolean poet Anton Nagele forms a distinctly poetic scene that thoroughly corresponds with Michael Aschauer’s finely woven five-part setting including several gentle harmonic chords with second intervals. Apart from the intensification in the middle section, as the approaching Holy Night is palpable through the glowing splendor of the stars, subtly graduated shadings in piano dominate. After the call of the bell the Night also appears peaceful and mild and filled with a special radiance and fragrance. This choral piece was composed as a commissioned work for the “8th Pan-Tyrolean Singing Competition” 2022.
