The basis of this Christmas carol is an English text by Ben Jonson (1573–1637). When composing, Jan Wilke orientated himself on traditional models of Anglican church music; for example, the first verse is sung in unisono. The four voices can be accompanied by harp or piano. The e-print contains the full score (SATB and harp/piano) as well as the instrumental part.
