Be Thou Welcome, Most Beloved Child Choral single edition SATB

With his celebrated Pastorale from his Christmas Concerto, Arcangelo Corelli triggered a veritable boom in the Italy of the Baroque Era. In a sensitive arrangement, this present edition makes the pastorale by Giuseppe Sammartini for the first time accessible to choirs. The underlain German lyrics (Sei willkommen, allerliebstes Kind) have been taken from a Christmas poem by the Baroque poet Sidonia Hedwig Zäunemann. The English lyrics are a translation of the poem. Thus, a touching new Christmas song for choir has been composed in which solemnity and gentle pastoral melody are consummately unified. The organ accompaniment (ad lib), which has been mostly orientated on the choral setting (colla parte), provides support for the vocal parts and lends the choral arrangement an added celebratory splendour.
