The choral composition Mercurius is based on a text collage compiled by the composer from fragments from various sources including newspaper headlines in different languages. Most of these were actually printed in the first half of the 20th century reporting about robbery, the Olympic Games and other sensations as well as the so-called Cleansing of the Temple found in the Bible which describes Jesus expelling the merchants from the Temple. Texts and ideas rise and fall with the superimposed and exuberant, fleetingly swift music: in particular, in the rush textual details are barely noticeable by ordinary people.
