Set in a wintery natural scene between quiet peace and a bleak, hostile coldness the people petition for the Savior’s arrival. Their emphatic plea is heard, and the choir jubilantly sings the Gloria from the Christmas carol Les anges dans nos campagnes in His honor. After that this expressive choral piece – a commissioned work for the “8th Pan-Tyrolean Singing Competition” 2022 – returns once again to its peaceful, quiet beginning. Michael Aschauer impressively showcases the diverse moods that can be found in the text of the Tyrolean poet Ambros Mayr not least by means of different harmonic nuances.
