In this challenging but rewarding modern interpretation of the German folk song Horch, was kommt von draußen rein, Yannick Wittmann initially uses the vowels of the word “Horch”. The resulting soundscape gradually combines with the sounds of the notation and finally the folk song resounds in an unfamiliar jazz manner. The loosely swinging style, however, becomes gloomy and oppressive melancholy spreads. This is an exciting adaptation between contemporary choir music and jazz. Lyrics in German only.
