Born in the UK, she has worked as an EFL teacher in Spain and the UK, before working in ELT publishing for 9 years and then transferring to the UK education division to focus on educational readers where she has now worked for 11 years. This is where she has developed a deep understanding of synthetic phonics as a successful means of teaching children to read in English. She has developed and worked on hundreds of phonic readers and other phonics materials as well as junior readers.
