Gerd Guglhör
1952

Prof. Gerd Guglhör taught vocal physiology and choral voice training, as well as choir and ensemble conducting, at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich until 2022. His artistic practice also focuses on these areas: in 1982, he founded the orpheus chor münchen, renowned far beyond its borders for exemplary performances and exceptional, representative CD recordings (co-produced with Bavarian Radio).
Since 1995, he has worked with the BACHChor&Orchester Fürstenfeldbruck, performing all major oratorios both nationally and internationally. For 25 years, he served as the artistic director of the Bavarian Choral Academy, which comprises the Singakademie and the Bavarian Youth Choir. Under his direction, the ensemble received the Bavarian State Prize for Music in 2017. In 2024, Gerd Guglhör was awarded the "Silver Whirl", the highest honor of the Bavarian Music Council, for his outstanding contributions to the promotion of music in Bavaria.
He is also a sought-after speaker on choral voice training and choral conducting. His book, Stimmtraining im Chor. Systematische Stimmbildung (Voice Training in the Choir: Systematic Vocal Training), is considered a standard work in this field.
