Born in Leeds, England, Chris Artley studied music at Bristol University specializing in composition under the guidance of Derek Bourgeois. Artley has spent 30 years teaching music in schools in the United Kingdom and New Zealand, where he is now resident and teaches at King's College, Auckland. He is one of New Zealand’s leading writers of choral music.
