Notte stellata Choral single edition SATB

A starry night, a “Notte stellata” fascinates us. It shows us how insignificant we are compared to the vastness of the universe, compared to the inexplicable that suddenly arises above our astonished heads. This becomes especially apparent in the miracle of Christmas: the ages intertwine on this starry night – what was yesterday, what is today and what will be tomorrow interlace into a multicolored and sonorous simultaneity … This sentiment is found in the wonderful Italian phrase I tempi si riavvolgerranno (The ages intertwine). The fascination, the wonder, but also the awe of such a “Notte stellata” was captured by the Dutch artist Vincent van Gogh (1853–1890) in one of his most famous paintings. This touching choral composition was inspired by the mood of the painting and the longing for peace that finds expression in the birth of Jesus.
