Martin Seiler’s arrangement of one of the best known Christmas carols begins rather unassumingly. After a couple of jazz-like chords the journey to pop begins. The flowing quarter note runs of the varied third stanza are the prelude to the rhythmically playful und radiant fourth stanza whose beat box accompaniment in hip hop style ensures fresh energy and expresses the joy perfectly. This arrangement also works well in a SAAB setting (in this case the tenor part is taken over by the second alto).
