This is a setting of the well-known text from the 16th century for five mixed voices a cappella by German composer Carl Gottlieb Reissiger (1798–1859). The Christmas carol using the rose as a symbolic reference to the Virgin Mary can be sung with the original German or the additional English lyrics (Lo, How a Rose e‘er Blooming).
