Received music instruction in piano, music theory and harmony from Friedbert Ströder. As a composer he works autodidactically and his music has been published by several publishing companies. Numerous commissions, e.g. for Sjaella (Leipzig), Franz-Peter Huber (Director of Music, Fulda), for the Kölner Kantorei as well as for CD recordings made Wawer’s works widely known. His a cappella choral works enjoy far-reaching recognition at home and abroad; they are performed at (international) competitions and represented at international choir and conducting workshops. He is a longtime member of the Kölner Kantorei and the Kleine Kantorei Dahlem.
