Gottfried Veit (born in Bolzano/Italy) studied at the Mozarteum in Salzburg as well as at the State Conservatory in his hometown. He was a music school director, kapellmeister, choral director and state kapellmeister of the Association of South Tyrolean State Bands for many years. From these, diverse activities resulted in an equally diverse oeuvre: Veit wrote mainly works for wind instruments, compositions for chamber music, songs and choral settings as well as incidental music. In addition to more than 300 compositions he also published several books on these subjects.
