Kai Koch

Prof. Kai Koch (*1986) studied music education and chemistry for the teaching profession at high schools and comprehensive schools in Detmold and Paderborn as well as organ (M.Mus.) and choral conducting (M.Mus.) in Münster and Berlin. He received his doctorate in music education in Paderborn in 2017. After his teacher training, Kai Koch was a teacher in Münster and Annweiler. Following professorships in Munich and Vechta, he has been professor of Music and its Didactics at the Karlsruhe University of Education since 2024 where he heads the Institute of Music. He has also won several composition and arrangement competitions (including the Bundeswettbewerb Komposition, Europäisches Chorforum, chor.com, Valentin-Becker Preis).
